As a longtime birthing professional and baby advocate, I have grown to accept and understand how powerful the experience of the baby in your womb truly is.  Does it matter if you have a stressful job?  Is it of any concern that you and your partner speak harshly to each other because of the stress in your lives?  What if your house is in the middle of a remodel?  Do any of these things impact the baby in your womb?

In my HypnoBirthing® classes, which I have been teaching for the past 17 years, I help pregnant couples become aware of what their baby is experiencing, even at a very early stage like 15 weeks (early 2nd trimester).  During our 2nd class, which is the “bonding class” I go around and ask what each parent is doing to bond with their baby.  I get many puzzled looks…especially from the dads.

It’s never too soon to get acquainted with this little person that is developing inside mother’s womb and is a magical experience that will impact your choices and decisions throughout your pregnancy.

Babies are aware almost from the moment of conception.  They feel your every emotion, hear mother’s voice and become excited when they hear their father’s (or second parent’s) voice.  It’s never too soon to get acquainted with this little person that is developing inside mother’s womb and is a magical experience that will impact your choices and decisions throughout your pregnancy.  It is your opportunity to lay a foundation for a relationship that can last for the rest of your lives.  As Dr. Thomas Verny explained in his book The Secret Life of the Unborn Child, time inside of the womb is the baby’s first classroom where he/she learns lessons and develops emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially.  Parents can (and should) do everything they can to nurture this time known as pre-birth parenting.
